BECCEHAMIANS enjoyed a vital 19-12 victory over Kent One leaders Dartfordians on Saturday.

It was Beccehamians’ relentless defensive presence which eventually led to a mistake by the visitors leading to the first try.

A dropped pass by Darts on their 10-yard line saw Alex Warsop fly hack the ball and win the race for the touch down, the scorer converting his own try.

Darts struck straight back with a well-worked try which went unconverted.

Not to be undeterred, Beccs continued to apply the pressure and play for field position.

On the half hour they were rewarded with another try as James Humphries crashed over from five yards out following an unselfish inside pass from winger Luke Davey.

The second half mirrored the first and 15 minutes in Warsop sliced through the visiting defence on the halfway line and sprinted to touch down under the posts.

The conversion was a formality for Max Carroll, who had taken over kicking duties.

With 25 minutes still left on the clock, Beccs were keen to chase the four-try bonus point, at the same time as ensuring Darts did not collect a bonus point themselves.

Both teams threw everything at each other.

However, the Beccs defence, epitomised by man-of-the-match Dan Harding, eventually won through.

Dart's were able to secure a bonus point with a try and conversion on full time to ensure that lead at the top was only whittled down by three points.
