CHRIS Powell has hailed the positive attitude shown by Danny Green and Bradley Wright-Phillips after the duo missed out on deadline day moves to Swindon.

The Charlton players were set to join the League One side on loan but the deal was blocked by the Football League because of the Wiltshire club’s financial situation.

Both made late appearances from the bench in Saturday’s 1-1 Valley draw with Birmingham and the Charlton manager praised the way they have responded to what happened just over a week earlier.

Powell said: “Their attitude has been first class.

“While they are here, and while they are under my management, they will always be first class players and first class human beings because that is what they are.

“Obviously it didn’t happen for whatever reason.

“I think you will have to ask Swindon but while they are here they are still players for me, still players for Charlton Athletic and I know for a fact they will always give their all.”

Powell reiterated there has been no official contact from other clubs for either player since the loan window reopened late last week.

But when asked if they could still go, the manager replied: “It depends on the situation.

“There are a lot of factors to consider with loan moves or permanent moves but as far as I’m aware if they are here and they are fit, they will be up for selection to be in the squad and be in the team.

“They came on today with Greeny on a bit a longer than Brad, but they’ve trained well and that is why I’ve chosen them in the 18.”
