TOWNLEY Academy’s U13 girls’ team achieved the narrowest of wins when they took part in the north Kent group of the Lady Taverners indoor cricket competition.
Going into the last match of a round-robin contest with Bromley High, Chislehurst & Sidcup Grammar School and Hayes School, they could have ended the day in first, second or third place.
Winning this last match left three schools with two victories each and a complicated count back formula was needed to decide the group victors, with Townley getting the verdict by one tenth of a run.
They will now take part in the Kent county finals later this month.
