A KEMNAL Technology College student has his heart set on winning a national boxing crown after progressing through to the quarter-finals.
Jimmy Roe, 13, is fighting in the 54kg weight category of the national schoolboy championships and is set to battle it out in the quarter-final at Grove Park Territorial Army Centre on Saturday.
He booked his place by beating last year’s national schoolboy and three nations champion Patrick Ward (West Ham ABC) unanimously in the London finals and then stopping western counties champion Josh Howarth in the second round the following week.
Roe, who is a member of Bodyshots ABC in Crayford, is no stranger to the competition having reached the semi-final last year.
His dad Mark said: “Jimmy is looking to improve on last year, where he lost to the eventual champion .
“Jimmy is looking to give another impressive display and would also like to thank all of his fans for their support.”
