CHARLTON’S women’s team head into Sunday’s third round FA Cup meeting with Oxford on a high after scoring a dramatic 119th minute winner against Watford.
The Hornets clash in the Premier League Cup looked to be heading towards a penalty shootout until striker Gemma Shepherd curled in a peach of a shot into the top corner from 40 yards.
Charlton’s reward for their first victory in 2013 is a quarter-final date with last year’s runners-up Leeds United.
This Sunday’s date with Oxford at Thamesmead Town’s Bayliss Avenue ground is free to U16s with accompanying adults and Charlton Athletic season ticket holders.
Manager Bill Long hopes a vocal crowd can give them further encouragement.
He said: “A big crowd will give the girls a big boost.
“If you run out on the pitch and there’s 150 to 250 people screaming for Charlton it gives you a massive lift.
“I think the girls will appreciate it and it will be great if we can get the community and the supporters involved.”
