BRADLEY Pritchard admits September’s home defeat against rivals Crystal Palace is still a raw memory for everyone at The Valley.

The Addicks make the short trip to Selhurst Park this weekend for the return meeting determined to avenge a 1-0 home defeat inflicted by Kagisho Dikgacoi’s second half strike.

But it could have been a different story had Bradley Wright-Phillips not had a first half effort chalked out and the midfielder feels that sense of injustice will motivate Charlton on Saturday.

Pritchard said: “We certainly owe Palace after the first fixture.

“Bradley Wright-Phillips had a goal ruled out for offside.

“Had we gone in at half-time 1-0 up then it would have been a different game.

“Then later on in the game we hit the bar and had one cleared off the line, so those were the key moments which didn’t fall for us.

“I think we certainly owe them and we’ll be looking to do that.

“There’s going to be little need to motivate us for this game.

“If you need to be motivated then there’s a problem because you’re playing your rivals and they’ve beaten you at home and you’re going to their ground.

“There shouldn’t be any need to motivate us.

“We do enjoy playing away from home.

“Again the pitches do help because we can play on better pitches and with the style of play that we try to enforce it certainly helps to have a decent surface.

“We’re going to go there with confidence.

“We know that we have to bounce back from this (2-1 home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday).”
