KENNY Jackett hasn’t completely ruled out further additions to Millwall’s front line despite signing Nathan Tyson on loan from Derby until the end of the campaign.

Tyson had found first team opportunities limited at Pride Park this season and jumped at the chance to link up with the Lions.

He will go straight into Millwall’s squad for Saturday’s home encounter with Burnley and although pleased to have strengthened in a crucial area following the departure of Chris Wood, the Den manager admits it doesn’t necessarily mean he is now satisfied with what he has up front.

Jackett said: “It certainly improves it.

“It is not something you are ever satisfied with though because you always have to look at improving.

“With the loan system I don’t see the deadline as January 31, I just think it is always ongoing to be able to improve our squad.

“Is that it now? It isn’t necessarily like that, it is an ongoing process which doesn’t just finish on January 31 like it does in the Premier League.

“I feel Nathan Tyson brings pace and experience to our front line.

“He adds the option of being able to play on the left hand side as well but I do see him predominantly as a striker.

“I’m pleased with acquiring Nathan.

“At the age of 30 he has experience of the division, which at times we’ve lacked, and he brings pace to our front line.

“That’s very important for us.”

Meanwhile, Jackett is still waiting to hear from Tottenham if the north London side are willing to extend defender Adam Smith’s current loan deal which is set to end on January 25.

However, the Millwall manager isn’t necessarily surprised to have had no indication yet if Smith will stay.

Jackett explained: “I expect Spurs to keep their options open until the end to cover themselves for injuries.

“Any parent club would wait and see if they have injuries because the plus side of having someone going out on loan is should you have injuries or suspensions then you’ve got a player out playing regular football who is up to speed.

“That is an advantage of a loan player.”

Millwall are at home to Burnley on Saturday, a side whose attacking threat Jackett is wary of.

He said: “Burnley have improved defensively and still have quite a number of threats going forward. I like Ross Wallace and Sam Vokes.

“I don’t know whether Charlie Austin will be back or not but you look through every department and they have big players.

“Burnley have 39 points and are one of the sides in the Championship who have a good chance of going for the top six.”

Millwall will be without the injured Scott Malone and suspended Shane Lowry.
