BROMLEY’S mini revival continued on Tuesday evening in Dorset with a convincing victory at Dorchester Town.

The Lillywhites have now won three of their last four games, form which has elevated the Hayes Lane outfit to the dizzy heights of 11th in the Conference South table.

On a very wet and windy night, there was no hint of what was to come in the opening stages. Early Bromley pressure failed to create any worthwhile opportunities, while Dorchester had two half chances, both of which were well off target.

Danny Waldren shot through a crowd of players on 15 minutes but was denied by keeper Jason Matthews, while Mark Jermyn’s deep cross to the far post was put into the side-netting by Sam Malsom at the other end.

Bromley took the lead in the 18th minute when Louie Theophanous was allowed space and time to drive home from 30 yards, which left Matthews stranded.

The game continued to ebb and flow as the half progressed, with both sides having half chances but at half-time it was Bromley who still led.

Tony Finn might have done better when put clear 10 minutes after the restart by Elliott Buchanan, but from 12 yards and with only the keeper to beat, he fired wildly over the bar.

The game changed in Bromley’s favour three minutes later.

Finn was again put clear but as he was taking shape to shoot, he was hacked down from behind by substitute Jake Smeeton. Smeeton, who had replaced Neil Martin at half-time, was immediately sent off and Buchanan’s resultant free-kick from the edge of the area was spilled by Matthews before Moses Swaibu followed up to side-foot home into the roof of the net.

It got better for Bromley on 61 minutes as they went three goals ahead. Jermyn bundled Theophanous over in the area following Pierre Joseph-Dubois’s cross.

Theophanous’ spot-kick was blocked by Matthews, only for Buchanan to put the loose ball over the keeper and into the net.

The visitors dominated the remainder of the game with Theophanous (three times) and Aaron Rhule (twice) missing golden opportunities to increase Bromley’s lead.

Theophanous did finally get his second goal of the game with five minutes remaining with a low curling shot into the corner of the net.

This Saturday sees Bromley make the short trip to Princes Park to take on Dartford in the FA Trophy.
