CHARLTON defender Dorian Dervite admits he would relish another opportunity to play in midfield.

The Frenchman, who played at centre-back for the third successive game in Charlton’s 2-0 defeat at Bolton on Saturday, had previously enjoyed a spell in the middle last month.

And he conceded he would happily accept a return to the centre of the park if offered the opportunity by Addicks manager Chris Powell.

“My first position is centre-back but I have also played in centre midfield and I don’t mind either,” he said.

“As a holding midfielder I like it because you are always very involved in the game, so as long as I am playing I will always give my best.

“You’re more involved in the game when you’ve got possession, but my first position is centre-back and I think that is my best position.

“But I can play both, I really don’t mind.

“Even if it’s right-back or in midfield. I don’t mind any position, “I will always give 100 percent.”

Saturday’s setback at the Reebok saw Charlton’s seven-match unbeaten run come to an end and also consigned the Addicks to their first away defeat since September 18.

Dervite found himself locking horns with the vastly experienced Kevin Davies and he admitted the test against the Bolton veteran was tough, but one he enjoyed.

The Addicks ace explained: “Kevin Davies is an experienced player who has played for a long time in the Premier League.

“He has a lot of experience on the pitch, he uses his body very well so it is always difficult to play against someone like him.

“It is also good as well because now I have more experience against this type of striker.

“We had a good run before this game and we came here to keep the running going.

“Obviously we are disappointed with the result, but now we have to bounce back and think about the next game against Sheffield Wednesday.”
