REPORTS linking Championship rivals Leicester and Huddersfield with on-loan Millwall striker Chris Wood have come as no surprise to Lions boss Kenny Jackett.

Wood has been in prolific form at The Den since joining on loan from West Brom in September, bagging eight goals as Millwall have been transformed from relegation strugglers to play-off hopefuls.

That form has attracted plenty of attention and although Millwall remain favourites to do a permanent deal when the window opens next month should West Brom decide to cash in, Jackett accepts they will face competition from other clubs to secure the 21-year-old’s services.

The Den boss said: “I think it is just par for the course with forwards where a lot of people always look at that area and at people who are doing very well.

“It isn’t a situation which comes as any surprise to us but I don’t know any facts about any sort of bids.

“I can assure our supporters we’ve done everything we can in terms of pursuing Chris Wood by speaking to the parent club West Brom.

“We will just have to wait and see what happens in January.”

Leicester are Millwall’s opponents on Saturday and Jackett is looking for an instant reaction to last week’s 3-0 defeat at Ipswich, a result which ended their 13-game unbeaten run.

“The big thing from our point of view is we are trying to bounce back after last week’s loss at Ipswich and we want to try and establish ourselves in the top 10 of this division,” the manager explained.

“To do that we have to compete with the likes of Leicester.

“Leicester have spent quite a bit of money over a number of years trying to get out of this division and into the Premier League.

“They are at the right end of the table again this season competing and trying to get up there.

“We’ve had some cracking games with Leicester and know we are going to have to be at our best on the day and play very well.

“We are looking at three big games in eight days and they are ones I’m looking forward to.”

But Millwall will again be without Darius Henderson after he suffered another hamstring setback in training last week before the trip to Portman Road.

Jackett added: “Darius Henderson will not be fit for this weekend or Brighton on Tuesday but I expect him to be back in training tomorrow.

“I would think he would need the best part of a week, that is certainly the plan at the moment.”
