CHARLTON’S women’s team continue their hunt for silverware on Sunday when they host Lewes in the final FA Women’s Premier League Cup group game at Bayliss Avenue.

The Addicks have already qualified for the second round but can progress as group winners if they avoid losing by more than two goals.

Sunday’s game comes after a 2-1 win against Manchester City last weekend, with Gemma Bryan and Gemma Shepherd on the score sheet.

Captain Kim Dixson wants the easiest route through the competition in order to win a couple of trophies, despite it meaning they will fall a few games behind in the league.

She said: “As soon as you go in to a league format you are always looking to finish top and we don’t want to ruin our little run we are on.

“We have lost one in eight so we just want to keep winning, whoever we are playing.

“I think we have a team capable of beating everyone.

“I would rather have the points on the board because the league is more important than the cups, even though I said I want to win a cup this year.

“This is still my main aim.

“I think we can win the League Cup and the London Cup.”

Tickets for the game in Thamesmead are priced at £4 for adults and £2 for concessions.

However, admission is free for Charlton and Thamesmead Town FC season ticket holders.
