Scott Overall’s race in the Fukuoka Marathon did not go as well as planned as he finished in 13th place in 2.14.15. The Blackheath & Bromley athlete had passed the half marathon point in 65.24 but a calf injury and a call of nature slowed him in the second half of the race, which was won by Joseph Gitau in 2.06.58.
Nevertheless, his time ranks him third in Britain this year and is well inside the IAAF A qualifying standard for next years World Championships which take place in Moscow in 2013.
