Westcombe Park 41-3 Tring

TRING came to Goddington Dene on Saturday full of hope but not much conviction and duly went down to a heavy defeat at the hands of Orpington side Westcombe Park.
The hosts showed a lot of patience for three-quarters of the game and ran riot in the last quarter with four tries.
Combe’s home form this season has not been great but they have recently shown sufficient improvement away to know someone would soon be on the end of a hiding in Orpington.
The score at half-time was 10-0 thanks to a Toby May try, the conversion and a penalty from Ryan Fuller.
It had all been a matter of course in a half where neither side seemed to be at full stretch or really wanting it, so it was all a bit lack-lustre.
The second half started quicker and May was soon going in for his second try but Tring followed with a penalty by Tom Newton.
Combe's quarter of mayhem started with a rolling maul, several phases and Geoff Marshall getting the touchdown.
The three subsequent tries all showed speed and presence of mind.
First Luke Giles broke through near the posts, shortly followed by Trent Natrass charging down an attempted clearance and chasing down the rebound and then just before the end Fuller, starting from outside the 22, completed the overlap and went round near the posts.
Fuller added the conversions to the last three tries, and Combe had another five pointer.
