Wilson earns Addicks point at Wolves (From News Shopper)

LAWRIE Wilson’s second half strike earned Charlton a point from a 1-1 draw at Molineux this afternoon.

Bakary Sako had given Wolves an early advantage but Wilson drew the Addicks level 13 minutes after the break and then Rob Hulse missed three great chances to win it for the visitors.

The Addicks were unchanged from Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Leeds, although they welcomed back defender Matt Taylor on the bench.

Wilson blazed a 25 yard shot harmlessly wide in the fifth minute after Johnnie Jackson’s free-kick into the area had been cleared to him by a Wolves defender.

Dorian Dervite came a bit closer to finding the target with a similar long range effort but it was Wolves who went in front moments later when Kevin Holey’s delivery was met by Sako, who drilled a low shot beyond Ben Hamer from 15 yards.

Foley headed behind to deny Salim Kerkar a chance at goal, while Leon Cort made a headed clearance to prevent Roger Johnson getting on the end of a through ball at the other end.

Hamer confidently punched clear Sako’s 25th minute free-kick which had been whipped into the box.

Hulse was unfortunate not to get on the end of Pritchard’s through ball as former Charlton loanee keeper Carl Ikeme came out to gather.

Hamer was called into action again to comfortably catch Christophe Berra’s low drive, while Wilson had to charge down Stephen Ward’s volley with Johnson shooting just over from the resulting corner.

Hulse had a 35th minute effort easily saved and moments later Michael Morrison made a crucial interception to deny Kevin Doyle with Tongo Doumbia drilling a follow up shot straight at Hamer.

Kerkar almost equalised with an attempt from just outside of the area which went agonisingly wide and Hamer saved Johnson’s header after he rose to meet a Sako free-kick.

Only Doyle prevented Wolves making it 2-0 nine minutes after the restart as Doumbia beat Hamer with the shot, but bizarrely his effort was blocked on the line by Doyle before crossing the line.

As he was in an offside position the goal did not count and instead it was Charlton who struck next in the 58th minute to draw level.

Cedric Evina’s cross found Hulse, whose shot was initially saved by Ikeme but he could only push out to Wilson via the post, who simply couldn’t miss from close range.

And it was almost 2-1 to the Addicks two minutes later when Hulse’s header from Pritchard’s cross flew inches wide of the post.

Hulse then got on the end of Wilson’s pass before drawing a fine stop from Ikeme as Charlton suddenly began to ask all the questions.

Wolves were awarded a free-kick in a dangerous position just outside of the area but Hamer made a decent stop to deny Sako his second of the afternoon.

Charlton made their first change in the 84th minute as Kerkar made way for Jordan Cook.

And Charlton should have won it in the 90th minute when Chris Solly’s cross picked out Hulse, who somehow opted to head wide with the goal at his mercy.
