There were some momentous events in 1965 - Sir Winston Churchill died, Alexei Leonov became the first man to walk in space, the Beatles were awarded the MBE and... News Shopper was born.
We have a fun and action-packed timetable of events to celebrate our golden anniversary with you, our treasured readers.
• It began with the News Shopper Petts Wood Treasure Hunt on February 21.
• Later in the year we will join forces with Biggin Hill Airport to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
• News Shopper will be playing a major role at The Biggin Hill Festival of Flight on June 13 where we will launch our 50-year commemorative News Shopper magazine while also selling a special edition News Shopper beer!
• The rest of the year will feature time capsules, summer fairs and News Shopper campaigns along with a vast array of other events and activities which are being cooked up as we speak.
