FIREFIGHTERS will remain at the scene of a warehouse blaze in Beckenham for at least another 24 hours.

Around 60 firefighters and 12 fire engines were called to the single storey carpet warehouse in Beckenham High Street at 3.34am yesterday (December 6).

Fire crews from Beckenham and Plumstead managed to put the fire out by 12 noon.

They now have to wait until the badly damaged building is considered safe to enter so they can investigate the cause of the fire.

Twenty-five people had to be evacuated during the early hours of yesterday morning.

A neighbouring dance studio, glass fabrication unit and snooker hall were also damaged by the fire, in which nobody was injured.
