A NEW hospital unit for private patients has opened.
The first patient through the doors of the 25-bed Bromley Private Patients Unit at the Princess Royal University Hospital, Bromley, on September 10, was 90-year-old Thomas Minett, from Hayes.
The unit is a partnership between the hospital and independent company Capo Healthcare UK.
Patients from Bromley with private medical insurance and those who choose to pay for treatment will be able to use the new unit, which boasts shorter waiting times.
All private patients have full access to the hospital's specialist theatre units, intensive care units and diagnostic facilities on site.
The unit's manager, Nicola Pomery, said: "The high-tech backup services of the NHS Trust mean the facility is also suitable for private patients who require complex or emergency care.
