Bromley Council is about to set the council tax for the borough.
The council likes to boast of having the second lowest council tax level in outer London and the lowest spending per head of population for the whole of London.
At a recent well-attended public meeting in Beckenham held by the council about the cuts they propose to council services, a number of people stated that they would prefer to pay a little more council tax in order to maintain the already low service levels.
At the end of the meeting a show of hands demonstrated a huge majority of those attending in favour of a four or five per cent increase in council tax.
So Bromley councillors should give this serious consideration.
