Some years ago there was a campaign to Keep Britain Tidy.
Remember that?
Well, that seems to have been forgotten in the Gravesend/Northfleet areas where there seems to be a nonchalant attitude to litter.
All sorts of rubbish are strewn along the grass verges of the motorways, roads and pavements.
I have even happened upon little blue bags filled with dog excrement, neatly tied and left on walls and walkways.
Responsible looking people fling stuff from their cars or drop wrappings as they walk along grazing on chips and chocolate.
The Cleaning Department seems unable to keep on top of the problem and council budgets are tight so the general public must take more responsibility.
Think before you dispose of your rubbish and think before your dog soils the pavement.
With the 2012 Olympics soon to happen we may get visitors from abroad passing through our borough. Will they be impressed? I think not.
Extra effort required please.
