Just a thought while thinking.

Why is it these days that anything electronic has to have an "i" prefix and anything else has a prefix of either 'Pro' or 'Expert' or - god forbid, like Oral-B toothpaste, has both?

For gawd's sake - it's just a toothpaste, all it has to do (basically) is clean my teeth.

OK I can accept "Pro" as (possibly) meaning "on the side of" although I suspect that it's meant to be an abbreviation of Professional. But "Expert"? Expert at what?

While it's resident in my bathroom, all my toothpaste is expert at is staying in the tube unless I squeeze it or, now because of the stupid plastic tubes, running out at the least opportune moment.

And then there's the mass media exploitation of women's cosmetics.

How or why is an entire advertising campaign based on the apparent fact that 83% of 173 people liked the product?

What in h*ll does that prove except that about 30 people are less taken in by this type of hype than the rest of the sample group.

Either that or they've got skin like a pachyderm and no amount of moisturising is going to help.

If the public are truly taken in by such epithets as these then we may as well all give up now and wait for the space aliens to come and harvest us.
