The collision has left the family devastated as the Bassetsbury crash overhangs

News Shopper: Crash scene

6:03pm Wednesday 23rd April 2014

On Wednesday 9th at 10am police were called to the scene of a collision between a Vauxhall Vivaro van and a 47-year-old man on a Honda motorbike at the junction of Bassetsbury lane. The Van was driving down towards Beaconsfield and was turning right into Bassetsbury Lane whilst the motorcyclist was travelling in the opposite direction on the London road. Unfortunately neither saw the other in time leading to the motorcyclist crashing into the front passenger side of the Van at a causing him to fall off the motorbike at a fatal speed. An air ambulance shortly landed on High Wycombe cricket pitch whilst a fire brigade, ambulance, incident truck and multiple police cars began to investigate the scene having closed off both sides of the accident. A family friend identified the victim and the family were immediately notified and arrived on the scene as the motorcyclist was taken into a small red tent pitched up on the sidewalk whilst medics tried to sustain him. Unfortunately the rider was declared dead at the scene and was taken to hospital with the family, although the driver of the van was announced to be uninjured despite the severity of the crash. The  funeral was supposed to be have been previously held, however the body went missing and until it has been recovered the funeral has been postponed in this traumatising situation. The Thames Valley police have sent out an e-mail to local citizens appealing for witnesses on behalf of the Roads Death investigation Team at Three Mile Cross. If you have any details or witnesses any unannounced information please contact them on the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 101.

Does the past have an impact on our future?

12:41pm Saturday 5th April 2014

Last night I saw the well anticipated film Divergent; it’s true it has preceded its vast popularity and excitement. From the jaw opening, thrilling action scenes and the gripping futuristic story, it is a must watch for everyone. Aside from the brilliance of the cinematography and story line, I find that this film stands out from other thrilling action films set in the future like the Hunger Games. Instead of majestic fictional tale, Divergent sets itself in the future but it understandable and not far out of imagination. It encompasses the belonging of people to set factions of certainty of who they are or are supposed to be. The film explores the concept of human nature being an enemy towards the human itself.  Habitual human feelings and characteristics such as envy or love are thought to be dangerous to keeping peace and harmony. Therefore, the splitting up of people into factions of who they are such as being selfless or brave is thought to be necessary to maintain an order of living. To me, the film displays an important message that not everyone may see. It displays the impact of modern day fascism implied by the acute sectioning of people, also the killing of the divergent (people who’s test for results for who they’re meant to be being inconclusive) quite resembles Hitler’s ethnic cleansing of those who did simply not fit in. It’s typical for historians to point at the negative impact that Hitler’s Nazi regime of fascism had, with deeper analysis into today’s world, unfortunately not much has changed. This is a worrying thought. And in the film, this is shown carefully in the way that one is able to see the impact of the governing of our world.
