So suddenly we have a situation where Catholics and Muslims are united? How strange for these two groups who are diametrically opposed to each other and refuse to acknowledge each other's beliefs as real should be calling on each other for support.

I am speaking of course of the ridiculous furore over the release of the film adaptation of the very poorly written The Da Vinci Code.

It amazes me how little these groups understand human nature. Do they not know the more you kick up a fuss the more people will want to go and see it?

If, as they are proclaiming, it is fictional rubbish why expend so much time and energy saying so? It doesn't make sense.

I think it is indicative of how fragile the foundations of these religions are now they are houses of cards.

The sooner they crumble, the better for everyone.

We shouldn't be uniting the religions we should be getting rid of them all together.

Pope Benedict XVI said last week: "We are living at a time in which Christians are called to nurture an open style of dialogue on religious issues."

So therefore why is there a call for this film to be banned? Surely an "open style dialogue on religious issues" covers those who have opposing beliefs?

This statement by the Pope was aimed at trying to unify Muslims around the world with the Catholics a manoeuvre truly calculated as they are the two supreme religions.

Merging forces makes sense to keep each in power.

What I can't understand is how this is possible.

How can someone holding such firm beliefs, ie; what they believe is the truth without question, accept someone else as a partner who hold other beliefs entirely? Surely this is too compromising at some point one has to subordinate their views for the other.

To ban the film because it's not true is such a weak reason. It can only be blasphemous for those who still believe in Christ. For those who don't it isn't.
