I would just like to thank the person who travelled on the Southeastern 17.30 Charing Cross to Dartford train with me on February 9.

When I got off at Barnehurst I inadvertently left behind in a carrier bag a pair of old hiking boots I had brought home that I use to wear in the snow.

On realising my mistake I straight away went to the ticket office and was aided by Peter, a very helpful member of staff who rang Dartford station immediately, requesting they search the train when it came in, which they did.

Much to my despair and disbelief, it emerged that one of my fellow passengers who travelled with me had in fact noticed my mistake, taken them from the luggage rack and stolen them.

I would like to thank this person very much for this and hope they feel thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

Although sadly I do not think that would be the case with that type of person.
