IREFER to the recent letters regarding traffic wardens and also PCSOs (Doing Their Job and Why Are PCSOs Out Patrolling Streets, News Shopper, August 23). Firstly, the mother of "one of these morons'" is apparently misinformed.

Traffic wardens are extinct in most towns but have been replaced by council controlled parking attendants who cannot direct traffic but are constantly seen patrolling car parks and street parking areas.

This has no benefit to the free flow of traffic but only to generate revenue for greedy councils.

Regarding the letter on PCSOs, you will see parking attendents in numerous places and at various times throughout but the question is not whether "they are only doing their job" but where the priorities lie in providing a public service.

I could guarantee for the serious crime of parking a few minutes longer than you have paid for you will get a ticket, but if your car was broken into you will not see a police officer or even a PCSO.

I am certain the police force would like to see more police, the public want to see more police and the council, well there seem to be plenty of new recruits to tackle parking so, we all know what they want.

I think we should put the "mother" to the test and all park correctly. With no fines and plenty of parking spaces we will soon see how much it is about traffic flow and how much it is about raising more revenue.

With all the extra fines I expect we will see a council tax reduction next year, don't hold your breath.
