Motor vehicles are the main cause of death, injury and inconvenience to those of us who do not drive, so it is right all aspects of driving should be properly regulated and enforced.

Unfortunately, the attitude to many offences encourages some drivers to believe they should be free to break "trivial" or "inconvenient" rules.

Most pedestrians could quote hundreds of examples of near misses caused by sloppy, careless and dozey drivers, who were gone before we could record or protest.

The questionable assertion 23 million people drive safely and responsibly is irrelevant.

This is the kind of excuse put up by companies for poor products: "We have thousands of satisfied customers."

It is those who do not drive safely and responsibly who cause problems.

Attacking traffic wardens for doing work specified by local authorities is a cowardly and ineffective practice.

In a supposed law-abiding and democratic country, drivers who object to the terms of reference should complain to or vote against the relevant authority where it might make a difference, not resort to road rage.
