SHOT IN THE FOOT?: If Laura Jane Filotrani (Shooting From The Lip, April 12) thinks by accepting a fee, the six drugs trial volunteers were asking for gangrenous hands and feet and a possible life-time of damaged immunity from an underinsured company, then she is talking out of a rather different part of her anatomy. The way in which this trial was carried out seems open to question. The volunteers are the last people who should be held in any way responsible for this shambles.

GOOD SAMARITAN: I am writing to convey my thanks to the three ladies who came to my aid while waiting at a bus stop in Bellegrove Road, Welling, on March 29 when I had a nasty fall. One of the ladies offered to call for an ambulance. Another took me to my office. I would personally like to thank her very much for all her help. Perhaps the good samaritan could be so kind as to contact me?

MAKE THEM WALK: The problems caused by yobs who put dirty shoes on bus seats, throw food on the floor and generally make a nuisance of themselves is increasing. These devils have plenty of money to chuck around and scare the life out of people who unfortunately have to use public services. Ken Livingstone should take away free bus travel for all school children. Let them walk, it will give them plenty of time to burn off their energy.

CELEBRATE ST GEORGE: I notice there was nothing sponsored by the borough to celebrate St George's Day this year. Black History month and the Erith/ Belvedere Multicultural Festival are both financed by the public purse. It comes as no surprise to me the resentment under the surface sometimes manifests itself in violence, vandalism or worse.

PAYING DIVIDENDS?: If I invest in a plc I would receive a dividend if the company made a profit. As both Mr Blair and Mr Livingstone have declared the 2012 Games will be as successful as those in Sydney and Los Angeles, I am confident all Londoners will receive a substantial dividend in 2013. And pigs might fly.
