ON THE UP: Regarding New Logo Is A Gimmick (News Shopper, February 22). Councillor Drury says he wants "action" to improve Eltham Town Centre. But when Greenwich Council set its budget, the Tories had no plans for Eltham Town Centre or the Coronet site. Eltham is on the up. The Anglian has bought the Co-op. Specsavers is moving to Halfords to create its regional centre. After two CCTV cameras went up, crime rates in Eltham High Street are down. Three more CCTV cameras will be added soon. The Eltham Centre has started receiving £20m of investment. In the main high street no shops are unlet. A fortnightly Sunday market is in the pipeline. The high street is cleaned before Easter. The town centre manager is full-time. Businesses and residents steered a branding study, which the Tories are trying to rubbish. It told us Eltham's strengths and weaknesses and produced ideas for logos and marketing Eltham. No Go To Logo may seem good copy but it does nothing for Eltham.
