I RAISED at a recent meeting of Bexley Council the serious problems caused by large numbers of youth congregating in Penhill Park until the early hours of the morning.

They have caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to a changing rooms building which had only been refurbished by the council in the past year.

Our parks should be safe and welcoming environments for the whole community to enjoy, not places for yobs and vandals to hang out.

I am strongly urging the police and Bexley Council to take the necessary steps to protect the park and safeguard the quality of life for surrounding residents whose lives are being seriously afflicted by those who show no respect for the law or for the well-being of our residents.
