THE letter from Janet Burns (Hospital Staff Gave Me Five-star Care, News Shopper, October 26) prompted me to write regarding Queen Mary's Hospital.

My grandson was admitted recently and you could not fault the care and prompt attention he received. We will be eternally grateful.

Unfortunately, I witnessed the food being served and I am afraid some of it was inedible.

My grandson is a vegetarian and there was little choice for him. There were no salads, decent vegetables or fresh fruit and as he was recovering from a serious illness, his appetite was poor.

I believe the fault lies with the management. Emphasis should be made on wholesome, appetising meals presented in a way to tempt patients. Good food aids recovery.
