YOUR article (Mum's Plastic Surgery Nightmare, News Shopper, October 4) did not say if the plastic surgeon told Mrs Young how much it was going to cost her when she has to have the implants explanted.
The price runs anywhere between $8500 $12,000 (US).
She will be most fortunate if she can have 10 years in which to save up the money many times leakage and rupture occur much earlier, as well as illnesses making it impossible for the implantee to work such as rheumatoid arthritis/lupus, multiple sclerosis, and/or sclerderma.
As one who has already trod this path, maybe I can suggest she starts saving up immediately?
