I would like to make readers aware of an organisation set up especially for ex-RAF and WRAF personnel who served between 1939 and 1964 when conscription came to an end.

The association was formed in 2000 by a small group of ex-RAF men who believed the contribution and sacrifices made by them were being forgotten.

After four years we have around 2,500 members. The aim of the association is to foster friendship among the members, allow them through the pages of a quarterly magazine to relate stories and anecdotes of their service experiences and hopefully reunite old friends.

Regularly-updated membership lists of service members, stations where the person served and dates of service are circulated. We hold regular local and national get-togethers.

As most of our members are pensioners, we keep subscriptions costs to a minimum. A number of members, particularly those living on their own, have said the formation of the association is one of the best things to happen for them and even more so if they manage to make contact with a friend from the past.
