I write to make readers aware of an organisation set up for ex-RAF and WRAF personnel who served between 1939 and 1964 when conscription came to an end.

The association was formed in 2000 by a small group of ex-RAF men who believed the contribution and sacrifices made by them were being forgotten.

After four years we have around 2,500 members. The aim of the association is to foster friendship among members, allow them, through the pages of a quarterly magazine, relate stories and anecdotes of their service experiences and, hopefully, reunite old friends.

Regularly updated membership lists, listing service members, stations where the person served and dates of service are circulated. We also hold regular get-togethers.

As most of our members are pensioners, we keep subscriptions to the minimum. A number of members particularly those living on their own have said that formation of the association, is one of the best things that has happened for them and even more so, if they manage to make contact with a friend from the past.

Anyone requiring further information can contact me at 13 Douglas Road, Hornchurch, Essex RM11 1AN.
