Your article What Should Replace Splashworld Pool? (News Shopper, October 27) has prompted me to write a letter to Bexley Council, expressing my views on what should be developed on the site.

I am keen to know what other readers think.

I disagree strongly with the site being given to housing just to conform with the Government statistics, and the fact L&Q have just been given permission to build 103 houses on the North Cray Primary School site.

There are enough churches in the borough to cater for all denominations and do we really need healthcare facilities?

I think some consideration should be given to the younger generation to try and get them off the streets and to assist the police in their fight against anti-social behaviour.

I feel an ice skating rink or roller rink with facilities for coffee and snacks in this prime position, just across the road from the new swimming and leisure complex, will give pleasure to all age groups and generate some new interest for our younger generation.

I am sure this will be well subscribed to as the site is easily reached from surrounding areas.

The council should be providing information in libraries and other public places asking what the residents would like to see on the site rather than the council deciding what it wants to do with it.

If there is information available it must be very low key as I certainly have not seen anything and the first I knew was reading about it in News Shopper.

How about News Shopper spearheading a campaign to find out what the people want?
