I often read News Shopper and find it very useful for keeping informed on news and details on council decisions.

However, I do find some letters to the Editor disturbing.

For example, Mr Tecter appears to be incredibly miserable about other people, particularly youths, and life in general (Letters, August 11).

The worst complainers are sometimes the elderly who have a rose-tinted view of the past and especially of themselves as youths.

Is Mr Tecter, and others like him, such an ideal citizen he feels he has free rein to moan about others and society?

A few people are inconsiderate but many are helpful and caring.

All I can say is I wish complainers like Mr Tecter would spend a day in Lewisham town centre and look for the all the positive things people do for each other.

People are nice and do care about one another. Take for example the person who will help lift a buggy off the bus, the friendly chat at a cash machine, and the smiles from people when you let them through a doorway first.

These are the most important things and we all need to remember them or else we will find ourselves continually miserable.
