In response to the letter from J Whybrow I thought it would be useful to clarify what community development is.
It is a professional practice which involves working with both individuals and groups to effect chance in their area.
Projects include working with residents to ensure their area is clean, or helping to organise a play scheme for children.
Community development work is about empowering residents and other service users to involve them in the way services are delivered.
