I am writing in response to the inaccurate claims made by Mr Roberts, owner of the Paradise Bar (News Shopper, August 5).
The licensing committee made its decision after hearing all the facts at a public meeting. It was made on overwhelming evidence of excessive noise and disturbance and his disregard to his licence conditions.
Mr Roberts was given every opportunity by the committee to state his case. He has appeared before it five times in all.
Concerns were raised before, including breaches of licence conditions in relation to public safety. His licence was renewed, with conditions, each time.
It is the licensing committee's responsibility to ensure licence holders operate within the licensing laws.
Councillor Alan Till
Chairman Licensing Committee
