This week's News Shopper included a letter from someone turned away from taking garden refuse to the Salt Depot in Shire Lane because they had arrived in a van rather than a car.
I live close to the depot and since the collection scheme started, regularly walk there with a couple of sacks of garden waste.
The exercise does me good, recycling garden waste must be a good thing and I'm not polluting the atmosphere by driving.
Three weeks ago, I was told they were no longer allowed to accept garden waste from pedestrians for health and safety reasons. Now most of mine isn't recycled any more.
The borough of Bromley should be congratulated on their initiative in setting up the collection but they now seem to be putting too many obstacles in the way of people wanting to use it.
