You kindly published my letter on the proposed new Tesco store in Orpington.
I expressed my concern as to why Bromley Council obtained tenders from organisations such as Tesco and not from those who might provide something residents of Orpington really need, such as an entertainment centre with cinema.
I urged people who cared about our town to campaign against the Tesco store but at the time no interest was forthcoming.
In recent months you have published numerous letters decrying the development but I suspect it is too late to stop it.
I would still like to know how the council can be allowed to sell off a public asset without giving ratepayers any sort of a say in what it is replaced with.
It would appear the council does not consider itself answerable to its benefactors, an attitude I'm sure it will regret at the next election.
