THE scheme to redevelop the Ferrier Estate, reported on the front page Master Plan Is News To Us (News Shopper, April 15), has been widely welcomed by residents who recognise the estate’s many design faults and are keen to see new life breathed into the area.

Greenwich Council has worked non-stop for more than three years to keep residents informed and involved.

As well as meeting regularly with residents’ organisations on the estate, we have held open days and drop-ins where residents have been able to have their say on the plans.

Developer Berkeley Homes has hosted numerous exhibitions and has a permanent exhibition on the estate.

The masterplan itself has been the subject of detailed consultation with residents and is based on the Kidbrooke Vision document which was endorsed by residents’ groups on the estate.

We have sent out newsletters and interviewed tenants to help plan their rehousing.

News Shopper has reported on the development on many occasions and we also use the council’s newspaper, Greenwich Time, to keep people up to date.

The council fully appreciates in times of change, residents need to be kept informed about how the plans will affect their lives.

Together with Berkeley Homes we will continue, in the months and years ahead, to ensure people are kept fully in the picture.
