ON MY way home from work I noticed the shop on Eltham High Street which had previously been Woolworths had become a 99p shop, which I found highly disappointing.
Eltham High Street used to be quite a good place to do your shopping.
However, the constant opening of pound and mobile shops, not to mention the rumour about a new Lidl, are bringing the area down.
Not everybody wants to look through the same old things in bargain shops.
Maybe it is good to have one in the area but the area should also have some choice of decent, regular stores, of which there will soon be none in Eltham.
The creation of these places has dragged down what used to be quite a nice place to carry out your shopping.
Now it is just a bargain city with no class. I, for one, cannot wait for the property market to pick up so I can move out of the area.
