WASTING CASH: In regard to the regeneration of Belvedere Village, as a resident I am very concerned that under this proposed scheme Nuxley Road, the main road through the village, will be resurfaced/reconstructed.

It was resurfaced within the past 18 months. It does seem Bexley Council is wasting our money.

The last time it was done work finished at 2.30am some nights.

The suggestion by Bexley Council that Transport for London is paying £1.3m for this scheme and it is not our money does not make economic sense.

All public money is raised by taxation, either locally or nationally. Why should we pay twice in two or three years for the same road? Why wasn't it done properly the first time?

SIGN OF THE TIMES: There is a dry cleaners in Erith where the owner must have two or three apple trees in his garden.

At this time of the year, the trees are evidently loaded with apples and he offers them to the dry cleaning customers in his shop with an advisory sign along these lines: Free Apples. Please Help Yourself. (Except Traffic Wardens).

The sign stayed like this for a few days, attracting the odd chuckle, but as the box was being replenished later, some unknown customer had secretly pinned a further notice: And What About Estate Agents?

We may be enduring a credit crunch but there is some humour kicking about the place.

BAD IDEA: After reading what is going to happen with Crayford Town Hall, I was truly amazed a 180-seat restaurant would be built as part of the plans.

Are the people who make these decisions completely stupid or have none of them even been to Crayford?

If they had, they would know that there are more than 20 places where food and drink can be bought in Crayford.

All of these eating places are also within about half a mile and about 10 minutes' walking distance, so how is another one going to survive?

ENGLAND'S TURN?: The Welsh have honoured their own Olympians.

The Scottish have honoured their own Olympians.

But will the English be allowed by our Scottish-run parliament to honour their own Olympians, or will they "just be included" in Team GB later in the year?
