IN REGARD to Ann Stewart's letter (Waste Overload, News Shopper, September 10), I can see the point she is making.
However, buying meat from the butcher, fish from the fish counter, fruit and veg from a greengrocer and milk from the milkman is far more expensive than buying it at the supermarket.
I have just cancelled our milkman because I could not justify the extra cost.
And I no longer go to the butcher because it is more expensive than the supermarket.
A large number of people are suffering from the credit crunch and cannot pay these extra costs just because the council cannot be bothered to look into recycling more packaging, such as yoghurt pots and meat cartons.
We are a family of five and I recycle everything I can.
Despite this our green bin is so full towards the end of the fortnight, my partner has to get in it and jump up and down to get more in.
I have no idea what we would do if we were using the "new" hideously small bin Bexley Council provided us with.
