The Sonnex criminal clan versus the Prudham benefit scroungers – which of these infamous families would you least like to live near?

In recent months we’ve asked if one of them is the vilest family in Britain and raised the question of whether the other is the roughest family in the country – now it’s open to you to say which is the baddest of the bad examples.

Does either deserve the ‘worst family’ tag? If you have sympathy for one or other of the broods would you still want them as your neighbours?

Read about each family and then vote in our Battle of the Chavs poll. You can also post comments below.

Sonnex case

In November we reported on the disgusting Louise Sonnex admitting driving a car into a double-decker bus full of passengers while drunk.

The 40-year-old, from Deptford, was previously convicted for glassing a woman while screaming "I'm going to open her up like a can of beans".

In 2009 the mother-of-two was given a five-year sentence for attacking her father's girlfriend with a golf club.

Dad Bernard has appeared in court at least 26 times, charged with 47 offences, including some relating to guns and drugs, leading to six prison sentences.

Her brother Dano is currently serving life for stabbing two French students 244 times in a drug-fuelled attack.

Another brother Bernie has received at least 10 prison sentences for a string of criminal offences.

News Shopper:

During the French students’ murder trial it was claimed Bernie Sonnex had threatened to blow a man’s legs off in a dispute over some keys, and that he had been seen smashing a radio over a friend's head.

It was also said he had talked about once having shot a DJ five times with a gas gun at a pub because he would not play a Bob Marley record, and that he had bragged about having killed three people and got away with each one.

The Prudham case

We most recently reported on charmless Gravesend couple Cheryl and Rob Prudham just this week after they invited a newspaper reporter to their house and then subjected him to a foul-mouthed tirade, with the journalist also being chased down the street, having water thrown at him and getting his car egged.

In the video below, 32-year-old Mrs Prudham can be heard telling her teenage son and husband to “go and get his motor”.

WARNING: VIDEO CONTAINS VERY BAD LANGUAGE.

The Prudhams have 11 children (and counting) – five together, and six from her previous relationships.

They claim £39,000 a year in benefits. Their rent is paid by the council and they receive £400 a week in child tax credits. They also receive £8,030 a year in child benefits.

News Shopper:

Each apparently works part-time, which brings in about £15,000 a year, meaning they do not pay income tax.

Last year the couple pulled their children out of school for an expensive holiday in Menorca. Mrs Prudham was pictured smoking while pregnant on the trip.

Cheryl Prudham (The Sun/News Syndication)

In October she boasted about how easy it is to claim benefits. She was also reported to be spending £4,000 on Christmas presents, and was quoted as saying “being on benefits means I can do that”.

She was also recently quoted telling The Sun newspaper: ““Print any more f***ing stories about me and I swear to God, yeah, I'll smash your f***ing face in.”
