Each week I share my five thoughts of the week – the good, the bad and the ugly.

But, I’m not selfish, so I’m also very happy to donate the space to guest writers to have their say, so write to me using the details below.

1. If old people have something wrong with them then I feel sympathetic. I can even understand when they go on about various ailments more than is perhaps healthy. But when they start inventing health problems for you too, just so they can talk about them, I draw the line. I’ll discuss any subject ahead of “things I might suffer from in the future”. Great weekend mum, but safe journey home.

2. I’m not surprised to hear one in five Britons is now tattooed – you see them everywhere. But solicitors are warning it could affect your employment prospects. They say future applications for cabin crew, nurses and police could all be refused if you have a tattoo. Is that really fair?

3. Each to their own, live and let live. I really don’t mind what anyone believes. But, I do wish the Church of Scientology would stop sending me their nonsense in such large quantities. You can keep your “Way To Happiness” and I know you haven’t discovered the “Truth About Drugs”.

4. Whether it’s due to climate change or not, I don’t know. But when I can spend my birthday surrounded by bikinis and taking a very pleasant dip in the English Channel at 5pm then I know our weather is improving – bring it on.

5. Definition of sod’s law. You have an unused bank account for 44 years. Two days before you decide to want to keep it, the bank informs you it’s closed.
