Letter to the editor: I cannot believe that in 21st century Britain elderly people are being denied access to a bath or shower in their own homes.
I have been trying for almost a year to get Affinity Sutton to put a shower in my 94-year-old friend’s bathroom.
She can no longer get into the bath safely. Bear in mind this is the same bathroom she has been using for 60 years.
Affinity Sutton refuses to do anything except replace nine tiles.
I tried Jo Johnson, who also contacted social services on her behalf, but she still has to wash in the sink, she uses a jug for her hair.
Come on people – someone must be able to do something about this? I expect she’s not the only one either.
