Letter to the editor: I am writing to let readers know about a recent experience I had in a Bexleyheath hairdressers.

I had decided to treat my 10-year-old daughter to a cut and blow dry at a walk-in hairdressers where, apparently, “everything’s £9”.

The not particularly welcoming stylist informed me it would be £19 for my daughter to have a cut and blow dry.

I pointed out that it said £9 on the door. “Oh, that’s for a rough blow dry,” was the answer. I said: “OK, that’s what we want.”

She unenthusiastically told my daughter to follow her out the back, then did not say anything to her at all except telling her to get on the chair, then began parting her hair and inspecting it for nits.

She called another member of staff over to inspect my daughter’s hair, and at this point I came to see my daughter to find her looking very worried with these two peering at her head.

I was shocked and asked what the matter was, she told me she had not found any “crawlers”, but was not sure about eggs. I had a good look and all I could see was dry skin.

We left and my daughter burst into tears.

I looked all over her head and could not find a single nit’s egg, so I went back to tell the “stylist” how much she had upset my daughter.

The stylist acted as though I was some random maniac storming in to attack her.

Just before we left, a lady who introduced herself as the assistant manager talked to me about what had happened.

While I was talking to her, the other one smirked and tried not to laugh and other “stylists” gathered round with arms folded to glare at me.

Nice people – has anyone else experienced this fantastic customer service?
