Fund raising has been a big theme in our school over the past month, from bake sales to sporting challenges for a variety of different charities. I thought as it was such a big theme this month, I would look into the lengths that some people go to, to raise money. So I had interviewed one of the students, Reece Tailor, who had run an incredible 15 miles to raise money for charity.

What had motivated you to run this distance for charity?

I was determined to run that far as I know that this would be a good way to get people interested and want to donate, it helps the charity and I knew I would push myself to do it.

How do you think the run went?

It was good, but it was tiring. I had the energy to carry on and I had the perseverance to do it, I was just focused on the positives to come.

What were your goals for your fundraising?

I just wanted to raise as much as I could, I also wanted to finish the fifteen miles in two hours, which was my target. I had managed to do it under my target time and I had raised over £200.

How did you feel during and after your run?

The running overall was exhausting, but I tried to not think of how tiring it was. I just stayed focused which helped with getting my target time. I was really achy for a couple days after the run, but it wasn’t too bad because I did loads of training beforehand.

What charity was it for and why did you choose it?

I chose the Wings of Hope Children’s Charity because it’s the charity that our year is supporting at the moment and it does great and positive things that helps a lot.

Do you think you would do something again like this in the future for another fundraiser?

Of course I would! I would definitely run it again, maybe even more next time. We had also been planning and raising money by doing bake sales and sports against our form tutors for charity.

Many others like Reece Tailor do extravagant things for charity, like those who run in the race for life. However it isn’t about how much you do when it comes to fundraising, it’s the effort you put in to raise the money for these charities- from hikes, to staying in a box for 24 hours; it all adds up to a great cause.
