Over the past couple of months, 15 to 16 year olds have been walking in and out of potential post-16 institutes. For me the idea of sitting across from someone, I have never met before, asking me questions that I am ultimately unprepared for, can be a little daunting. I don’t know what everyone else is doing, but I have no strategy or preparation for them, I worry for about a week before the interview, but when I go it turns out to be fine. Yet I still worry when the next one comes, because you can never be sure... another thing you can never be sure of, is what on earth they are looking for?, apart from the occasional time where you may need to alter one of your options, what is the actual purpose of an interview?, some schools require an interview, some don’t, what is the difference between the two?, how much does the interview contribute to the application process? Is it a disguised test? If I say hi, and not good morning, will I lose points? How many points are there?
These are the questions that run through my head as I walk up the steps to a potential school I might attend.
To conclude I would say that the worrying really isn’t helpful, useful or beneficial in anyway, but I’m pretty sure I’m not going to stop.
