Letter to the editor: After working as a journalist in south-east London, Kent and across England for 44 years I am not easily shocked.
But shocked I was by the report about Greenwich Time chief reporter Peter Cordwell being sacked over the phone by Greenwich Council just hours after his letter praising the Lewisham Hospital campaign appeared in the press (Council publication writer sacked, News Shopper, August 28).
How sad that Greenwich Council feels an award-winning journalist with the enormous talent, commitment and integrity of Mr Cordwell has no place in its organisation.
