Letter to the editor: After seeing your front-page story Living Under Mouse Arrest (News Shopper, May 22), I had to write about Affinity Sutton and how it doesn’t want to help us.

I have complained to it about the noise coming from the flats above my home so many times I have lost count.

The incessant banging and drilling goes on all hours of the night beyond midnight.

The housing officers won’t do a thing about it, only saying it is not coming from my block when it is.

They won’t come and listen for themselves but just tell me to stop complaining.

Why should I have to put up with it when my wife and I, who have learning difficulties, have to accept other people’s incessant noise?

Also, Affinity Sutton has promised to do lots of repairs which it has neglected to do.

It treats us like liars when we have witnesses, friends and visitors who have had to leave because of the noise being so loud, yet still it denies there is a problem.

We feel like there is no-one who cares as Affinity Sutton says we must put up with it.

MR A RUSSELL, Penge
